nabb dies
Magdalen Nabb, a crime fiction author died at the mere age of sixty this Tuesday. Nabb, who had a quirky Italian investigator in all her novels died of a stroke in Florence, Italy. Nabb was a fan of Belgian author Georges Simenon, who also wrote crime fiction novels about a French detective Jules Maigret. When Georges retired from writing in 1972, Nabb started writing. She also remained in correspondence with the author till his death.

The author was born in Lancashire in 1947 and took to pottery. Later, she came to Florence with her son and started writing novels. She also writes literature for children. Her Josie Smith books for children got immensely acclaimed and the series have also taken up the form of Granada children’s TV series, Josie Smith. Her debut book, Her first book, Josie Smith, came up as a runner up for Guardian Children’s Fiction Award in 1989. In 1991, she shared the prestigious Smarties Book Prize for the age group,6-8 with Eileen.

Nabb’s fiction were set in Florence only around a detective Marshal Salvatore Guarnaccia. Her book, ‘The Innocent’ was out in 2005 and has already published 13 books. As per the publishing house her very new novel was on the way and will be out next year. Her other famous and widely acclaimed books are The Enchanted Horse, Twilight Ghost. The world of literature will miss her.
